As
Episcopalians we are part of the world-wide Anglican Communion.
As such we always keep in mind that our faith is formed
by Tradition, Scripture and Reason, as it was so designated
by Theologian Richard Hooker in the Sixteenth Century.
Tradition
In part this
means that we follow a very old and traditional form
of weekly worship, the Mass, in a manner very similar
to the way it was celebrated in the church of the First
and Second Centuries. These ancient rituals are very
important to our worship, but we have changed the language
from the original and added music. This makes them more
contemporary. We try to blend traditional, modern and
praise music in services at St. Francis.
We are a sacramental
Church. We offer all seven sacraments as do the Roman
Catholic and Orthodox Churches. The Holy Communion,
Baptism, Holy Matrimony, are three of those that are
offered on a regular basis. If you have an interest
in finding out more about the similarities and differences
from other denominations, or you simply want more detail,
please ask for a pamphlet called, What it Means
to Be an Episcopalian.
