Church Life

“If one falls down, his friend can help him up. Pity the one who falls and has no one to help him up!”
                                                                         Ecclesiastes 4:10 (NIV)

General Fellowship

Many activities during the year provide fellowship as the entire church meets together. Super Bowl parties, Mardi Gras with it’s gumbo soup, Italian night with spaghetti, the church picnic, wine tasting, St. Francis day and the blessing of the animals are all examples of full church fellowship that happens from time to time. We are Christ’s body and we have fun becoming aware of it from time to time.

Men’s Group

This is a group that meets monthly for dinner and fellowship. Activities in the past have included a weekend camping retreat at Lake Cachuma, spiritual retreats, service projects such as building a fence, and helping the needy. Our goal is to be first a men’s fellowship group and second, a group that helps the church as well.

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up just as in fact you are doing”
           Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV)

Women’s Group

St. Francis Women’s Group meets each month. They meet for other activities as well at other times during the year. They completed a very successful rummage sale the end of April 2004. Other activities have included making and selling Easter crosses during lent, and a retreat at a cabin in the mountains.

“…They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad & sincere hearts.”
           Acts 2:46 (NIV)

Youth Activities

God’s Gang, a group of kids from 8 – 14, includes both fun times and service to others. Recently funds for our new Sunday school building were raised by the youth as they participated in a Lord of the Rings Marathon. Participants watched the Lord of the Rings movies, played videos and other did other activities with the same theme. They then watched the latest and final episode at a local theater. Roller and Ice skating, a Halloween visit to the ghosts of Simi Valley, Christmas caroling to those in nursing homes, Swim parties, and Theme Parks have all been an important part of how the youth of St. Francis celebrate being part of The Body of Christ.

Gourmet Group

A group that gives our church members an opportunity to share their culinary talents. Everyone enjoys wonderful fellowship with one another while dining on various cuisines from around the world. Gathering at church member’s homes semi-monthly, recipes and good times are shared by all (all levels of experience are invited!) Among recent cuisines prepared and tasted are Thai, Indian, Irish and Mexican.

Small Groups

A number of groups meet weekly to share their walk in faith with each other. This time not only fosters closeness within the group but offers discipline in our own faith walk as we share our triumphs and foibles with others.

Daughters of the King

Daughters of the King, (an order of women devoted to prayer and support of the leadership of the church) also pray in the same way for the same list of people. Daughters also pray especially for the priest, the priest’s ministry, and the welfare of this church.
